Upgrading video card?

i need 2 upgrade mi computer's video card. mi current one is the Intel(R) 82845G/GL Graphics Controller. i need 2 upgrade 2 the 915G or the 945G. which is better, & how do i upgrade?|||Ok well neither of these guys really gave you the info you need. Intel does not make "real" video cards. They make crappy integrated graphic controllers so they can sell a computer at low cost.

I can't tell you what video card to buy without knowing your budget and available expansion slots. You should call your computer's manufacturer or check their website to see what your available slots are. Any video card you buy should be made by either ATI or Nvidia(Geforce). Anything else is garbage.

That Intel crap is built into your motherboard so it must be disabled before upgrading. To do this start your computer in safe mode. Right click my computer, click properties, device manager, display adapters, right click the intel graphics controller and click disable. Then turn off your computer and install your new video card.

Currently good mid-level video cards are the Geforce 7600GT and the ATI 1600XT.|||first you need to open your desktop case and check what kind of "card" slots you have.

brown = AVG

white 21/2 - 3 1/2 inches away from back panel - PCI

white farther back than ^ - PCI-Express

once you find the type of card you need, just go to your local best buy/circuit city and you can get a decent one there. look for Nvidia or ATI and look for the card type (AVG, PCI, PCI-Epress)|||remove the old one and replace the new one. easy
