My sims 3 doesn't work i believe i need to upgrade my video card?

I just bought sims 3 yesterday and i installed it when i tried to play it would say unable to play device 0 doesnt reconize it upgrade video card. I asked my dad to help we tried to use directx but it still didn't work what am i suppose to do now??? PLEASE HELP ME|||video cards is a physical thing you have to buy and plug into your computer, u cant just download somthing and make it work. find out which slot your computer can use for graphic cards, pci agp or pci express and then go to best buy or etc or online to purchase it and install it.
