Does upgrading video card make any difference?

I am building a computer for basically internet use, no gaming. It is reasonably high end in components but not sure at what point getting a better video card is a waste. Since it is not for gaming would a cheap card work just as well as a high end graphics, 3D, gaming card? You know the old saying, it is only as fast as the slowest component. Don't want to waste money but don't want any bottle neck also. I have PCI Express slots and would use that for the video card.|||You want to get a dedicated video card that does not use any of the system memory. Beyond that, since you plan to do no gaming, anything more would be a waste. I would personally recommend this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… if you go anything less, you are starting to get into the area of ones that have cheap parts, anything more and you are wasting your money considering your needs. This will be a good card for Vista if you plan to get that, since if you use Aero this will handle it without any slowdowns.|||the only reason you'd need a HIGH end video card is for 3-D rendering, image editting/creation and as you state Gaming.

Otherwise, yah you're wasting money on anything that's got more then 64-128mb of memory|||Ya for streaming Internet video and watching DVD etc..... Get a 64 mb pciE or a 128mb|||just for the internet an integrated graphics card would be ok...but for HD video you would want an 8500GT...because its good for that...|||Yeah, an integrated card, or a lower priced one will do.|||you can get a pretty decent card for 70 bucks. I game with mine, mostly World of Warcraft and Civilization, and I use a card I can't remember the name, but it only cost me like 75 bucks, so you definently don't need anything major, still a good one will help out in case you want to do something later with it.|||Well, you'll want to get a graphic card that can work on the OS you're installing. Be sure to make sure the card you're getting is still supported by the respective maker in terms of drivers. Is this a Vista, XP, or Linux box?|||a basic video card would be fine for the internet. maybe even the "chipset" monitor display from the motherboard would be okey for just the internet. But pci-e are kind of expensive to begin with. If there is an agp slot on the board I would get one of those video cards which are lot less expensive. .....But FOR gaming a cheap card would be offensive lol. Some cards can run several hundred dollars for the newest gaming scene.
