Looking to upgrade video card from Geforce7300. I have a micro case and need good ventilation. Suggestions?

I have an Nvidia Geforce 7300, 256mb etc. I'm looking to upgrade it so I can dual-client some older games without lag. My computer is small, I have a micro case, so it *needs* to be well ventilated and not huge. Any suggestions?|||need to use a case fan if possible

I have a Gm5474 and want to upgrade video card?

I wanted the EVGA GeForce 9600 GT Video Card or the Radeon HD 4830 Video Card but I dont know if my computer has the power supply to accompany those video cards. Which is better for gaming and what is a molex 6 pin and where doe all of that go?

I have a Amd Athlon 64x2 6000+

Nvidia 8500GT

3 Giggs of Ram and 500gbHD

400 Watt Power Supply|||You have to tell us how much money you're willing to spend on it.

A 6-pin molex connector is a cable, usually coming from your power supply that feeds your graphics card (don't worry, it is very distinguishable ). If your power supply doesn't have any, you can buy a 4-pin to 6-pin molex adapter.

400 watts are enough for those video cards and between these two I would certainly suggest the HD4830.

Get more ram or upgrade video card..?

Well recently ive been getting into gaming again. And currently im playing TF2 and Garrys mod...but when theres alot happening in the screen my fps goes down.... My current video card is a ATI RADEON x800 pro 256mb...and my ram right now is 2g...should i ad a gig of ram or get a bttr graphics card|||It's your graphics card...it's being overworked. Try the radeon x1950.|||2GB of system RAM is plenty. There are two things that you want to be fast for a gaming computer: the video card, and the processor, in that order. Just don't be surprised if you still get fairly low fps when there's alot of action on screen, with the faster video card-- it'll happen because your processor can't keep up.

How do you stop your on-board video card from working?

i got an on-board video card for my PC and i have another upgraded video card installed. The old video card should not be working by this time but when I installed a certain game, the game uses the old video card and results to system crash every time I play that game. Can someone help me with this problem please?|||You need to go into the bios or config for your pc and disable the onboard video.

I'd like to upgrade video card but psu doesn't have pci-e power wire?

I'm adding a pci-e 2.0 graphics card to my hp and I need to power the graphics card, is there a converter cord for another power wire to pci e for the gpu power?|||Most graphics card with PCIe power connector has an adapter that connects to 4-pin molex of power supply. However, most stock power supply of branded PCs are not powerful enough for graphics cards that have PCIe power connector.

You would be better off with a graphics card that does not have a PCIe power connector. It is a lower wattage card.

If you are really keen on installing a powerful graphics card, you have to upgrade your PC's power supply.

Upgrade video card on my computer?

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS210E, and was wondering if I can upgrade the video card? I know that some Sony Vaio's are able to upgrade the video card but I don't know. The video card in it now is a Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. Any help would be very much appreciated.|||Sorry..yours has an intregraded video chip and cannot be upgraded. Very few laptops, except the very expensive ones, have the option to install a non-intergrared video card.

Good Luck|||no, you can't. you can go for another upgradeable vga laptop.

Upgrading video card?

Is it possible to upgrade a video card on a laptop? Its a dedicated video card and not integrated so I don't know if its a permanent part of the motherboard or not.|||no. there are like a million of these questions every day|||Probably not possible|||Yes. Just look in your computer manual. There may be a special way to access the card, or you may need to take the computer into a store to have it installed.

Upgrading Video Card & PC Power Supply?

Greetings all.

I have a Dell Dimension 8400 PC - P4 3.0ghz and 3 GB RAM. It currently has a stock 350W power supply.

I am looking to purchase an EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Akimbo Superclocked video card (as listed here) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… and I obviously need a new power supply as the card's minimum requirements are 400W.

I am considering this particular power supply unit:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

I know quite a bit about PC's, but power supplies are my weakness. I've never even replaced one to be honest.

Does that particular unit look like a good one to go with? If not, do you have any other recommendations?

Also, for major PC enthusiasts, any other advice about this planned upgrade would be most welcome. I can't afford to upgrade to a brand new PC just yet, but I figured this upgrade would go a long way in improving performance for newer games.

Thanks in advance!|||I actually used that power supply for a few hours, its pretty loud

you might want to check if your computer is in the ATX form factor, many dells use proprietary power supplies and connectors to the motherboard

Upgrading video card in Lenovo H210 Desktop?

Hi..I have a Lenovo H210 desktop computer ( I dont how to find the kind of card as I dont know where to look). I am looking to upgrade the video card as images stick and the comp crashes if I have multiple images up. Its about 3 years old and I use it solely for websurfing. Can I upgrade it and if so is there any particular card I should get?? I don't need a gaming card just a good quality vid card for the purposes I stated when I have multiple screens opened. Thanks..|||Something like this mid range card should be more than enough for your needs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||Since you don't need a SERIOUS card.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

The first is used for multimedia/minor gaming. The second can be used for multimedia too, but is better suited for modern games. You won't be able to play modern games on high with the cards, but that doesn't matter since you said you aren't a gamer. You don't have to get that brands (just my favorite), but just make sure you get Geforce 240, 9800, or 250. Anything above that (260, 460, etc) is when you are starting to get too the "serious:" gaming cards.

P.S. Make sure you look at the Power requirements. 240 needs around 300w and the 9800 needs 550w. It says 350w on the site, but on the box it says 550w. At least it did when I last seen one.

Upgrading Video Card on a 2004 Compaq Presario?

I have this old desktop computer that my family hasnt used for over a year , , It is a Compaq Presario SR1303WM.

Here are the product specs- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…

. . . And the motherboard is an ASUS A7V8X-LA (original mobo)

It's OS is Windows Vista Home Premium (upgraded OS from XP about 3 years ago) and the processor and gaming processor score was 1.0 (the windows vista rating system). . . The main reason i want to fix it up is so i could use that aero program

My question is. . . if i upgrade the video card at a price range around $60, what benefits will i expect to see, if any (performance-wise, not gaming)?|||graphics card upgrade for that pc in the $60.00 range is about right any more would be a waste something like 8500gt would improve performance by unloading the processor and would not grossly outperform the rest of your system|||This will run Aero interface perfectly, not break the bank and run games from 06 and below fairly well...

Upgrading Video Card And Processor.?

Hello i was wondering what video card and processor would be compatible.

Right Know i have a 9600GT video card and a Intel Q6600 Quad-Core Processor.

I don't know what kind of MO-BO it has but obviously its compatible w/ the quad core and the 9600GT.

So i was wondering what your suggestions were on buying a new gpu and cpu, also please make

sure there compatible

Also its a Acer Aspire IDK if this helps.|||It's not going to be worth it to get a new CPU on that thing. You already have a quad and any significantly better quad core is going to cost way too much to be worth sticking it in a dead socket like 775. If you want a better CPU, you're going to need a new motherboard and probably some new RAM, too.

And being a crappy OEM, add a new power supply to that list.|||Any CPU that fits the LGA 775 socket will work just fine, the CPU does not dictate what GPU to use, only the PSU and type of interface whether it be PCI-E, PCI express x16, PCI Express 2.0 x16 or PCI Express 2.1 x16... etc..

Upgraded video card, still Video Editing Lag?

I just got AMD Radeon HD 6670 video card and installed it hoping that when video editing on Adobe Priemere 8 the lagging would stop. I have my computer connected by hdmi from computer to 36" samsung tv. It seems to be lagging even more now which is annoying. My Computer Specifications are as follows

- Mother board is an asus P5L-MX..

- CPU is a Pentium D 3.00ghz

- Ram 3.37gb (4gb)

Do u think if i upgraded my processor that it would stop the lagging and make my computer speedy!?? PLEASE HELP|||Typically Upgradeable Laptop Parts

While laptops have a certain number of parts that are custom-made, there are some that aren't and which are usually upgradeable by the end-user. These parts include the hard drive and the RAM (Random Access Memory). Hard drives for laptops come in one standard size (2.5 inches), and you are usually able to access the hard drive on a laptop by removing a few screws on the bottom of the computer. Once the hard drive is removed, you can replace it with a larger one, reinstall your operating system and utilize the increase in size immediately. You can also replace the RAM in your laptop in a similar manner, though sometimes replacing the RAM requires that you remove the keyboard from the laptop to access it. Adding additional RAM can make your laptop run faster; though, beware of trying to install too much RAM in your laptop, as laptop motherboards can only handle a certain amount. This amount varies depending on the make and model of your computer. Check with your computer manufacturer before attempting to add more RAM to your machine.

Typically Non-Upgradeable Laptop Parts

Among the list of laptop parts that are not usually upgradeable unless the manufacturer has explicitly made them so are video cards, CPUs, sound cards and motherboards. These parts are usually custom-designed so that they fit into their particular laptop chassis, so you can't just go out and purchase a standard part and upgrade them. You would have to contact the manufacturer and attempt to purchase these types of parts for your specific laptop model if you wanted to upgrade them. Video cards are more commonly upgradeable than the other parts, however, especially on high-performance gaming machines where the video cards are physically separate from the motherboard instead of being integrated into it.|||Video Editing is mostly CPU powerhouse, and that Pentium D might not be as sufficient as you might have wanted it to be

Option : Upgrade your CPU

- You have a socket 775 which allows you to use only Intel Core 2 series CPUS

- Get a quad core if you do a lot of Video Editing

- Dual core for mild video editing

YES, upgrading your processor will make your computer much faster and may solve much of your lag issues|||...wow. Here's a funny idea: Video editing is not that dependent on your video card. The problem is that your CPU is an old turd, and your video editing is going to be heavily CPU-dependent.|||Upgraded Processor, RAM

Upgrading video card?

Is it possibile to run Nvidia 250 GTS or 9800 GTX on an Intel Core 2 Duo?|||Cpu doesnt do anything, depends if you motherboard has a pci express 2.0 slot and if your power supply can power them. a good psu is a 550watt

does the job with my gtx 260|||CPU has nothing to do with it, depends on motherboard and power supply.

Can you upgrade video card for laptops?

I bought a video game for my laptop and its just short of the correct specs to run it. I was wondering if its possible to upgrade my video card for a laptop.|||Not normally. The video is not a "card" but a chip that is soldered to the system board. There are a few very high end new laptops that allow you to change video chips. But 99.9% of all laptops are stuck with the chip that came with the unit. One of the major disadvantages of a laptop - you can not upgrade much of anything in them.

Try running the game anyways. Many games will run on a system that is slightly below the minimum. You may get a little lag, or you might have to reduce some of the colors or picture quality a little. But often you can get a game to run on a system that is close to the requirements.|||In laptop You cant upgrade video card because most of are in built

Upgrading Video Card on a GT5426E?

After doing some research I've decided on a Radeon HD 4870 Graphics card. Recommended wattage is 500W. Should I go bigger or just get a 500W PSU and either way, can anyone recommend where or what I should get?|||I would recommend getting a 5770 instead, for up-to-date Direct X compliance.

Not looking for anything crazy so probably just the peak for my PS.

It seems to of been overheating while playing higher end games. Can I upgrade the fan too? How much does that cost? Would upgrading the video card fix both?

Upgrading video card, need help to choose?

My specs:

Motherboard: Asus P5Q Pro

Current video card: Asus/ Ati Radeon HD 4850.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 2.53 GHz

RAM: 2 GB (probably gonna upgrade it once I upgrade the video card).

I am not a computer expert at all, so could you help me?|||I'd probably sooner upgrade the motherboard/CPU to LGA1155/2500k - the HD4850 is still a pretty good card.

However, if you really want to upgrade, I'd say the GTX560Ti or HD6950 would be the minimum upgrade from the HD4850 that's both worth the price in general and enough performance over the HD4850 to warrant upgrading.

Need help with upgrading video card?

I currently have a 480W PSU, AMD Athlon X4 640, 4GB DDR3 RAM and the MOBO is an Asus M4N68T-M V2. If I were to upgrade the video card would I need to upgrade the PSU? Regardless, what do you suggest?|||if you can get a 560Ti or a 6850 you shouldnt need to upgrade the PSU as long as the PSU has high efficiency and output continuous power.|||Regardless if you're upgrading to a new video card, you really should be on a quality power supply, from a reputable brand. Such as Corsair, Antec, Cooler Master, OCZ, Thermaltake, etc. And something with enough amperage on the 12v rail(s). The wattage listed on the box is always exaggerated, and not actually the *true* wattage that is pulled from the 12v rail -- which is what's important. Your generic 480w is not pulling "480w" from the 12v rail. It is most likely pulling only around 300w. With that in mind, yes, you should upgrade your power supply to something better for a new graphics card. You have to pay attention to the specs of the power supply, not just wattage listed on the box. Perhaps consider the Corsair TX650w. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||Meh, idk what to say about your power supply but check out this site for a handy value graphics card list that is up to date.

I would recommend this half-height PCIExpress 16x video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

That card can actually support up to THREE monitors (one VGA monitor, one DVI monitor, and one DisplayPort monitor).

I wanted to buy the http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10114581&catid=&test%5Fcookie=1 OR http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10110046&catid= but I was wondering if I could upgrade it or if i would have to stay with it Also if I can change it which one would be the best (I have a budget of $100)|||Most likely you cannot considering its an HP which uses a propreitary motherboard and therefore only the company can upgrade the video card. Although going through one of you local computer stores (physical shops) if you have any near you you can ask if they will build a system similar to this and add a video card.

For a video card under $100 I would recommend a Sapphire Technologies HD3680 512mb RAM don't go with Nvidia lately have been upping he clock speeds on the cards and slapping a new name on it!. Hope this helps|||You can upgrade the video card using a PCI Express (PCIE) card. You can get a pretty good card for $100. I would check places like Newegg.com.|||If you want to upgrade the graphics card on either one of those computers(by the way they're the exact same) then you need to get a PCI-Express graphics card. I would recommend you upgrade the graphics as the default graphics (Geforce 7100 integrated) suck. A good card for around $100 Canadian is the Geforce 9600 GSO.

Will upgrading my video card help much in this case?

I don't have a DVD player, so I watch my HD(720p) movies on my computer.

Computer: HP Pavillion

Processor: AMD Ahlon 64 X2 dual-core

Memory:3072MB

Screen: Sanyo DP32648 720p TV

Current Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE (Actually, is this the video card? It says "Graphics by NVIDIA.")

So, should I buy anything for better viewing, or would an upgraded video card not effect it?

Tell me what to get, or to not get anything, please.

Thanks in advance|||I'm assuming you have playback performance issues. If not, then don't worry about it.

If you're talking about H264 or VC-1 videos, a modern video card would help a lot. An HD 4350 should accelerate most videos up to 1080p, but if you want anything like picture in picture you should spring for the HD 4450. Nvidia's 9400GT is also an option you might look at.

And no, the 6150 is not a video card, it's a video chip. Fine for most things, but not HD video acceleration.|||First off, yes that is the video card.

Upgrading your video card helps if you have bad picture quality ( freezing and stoping) but if your movies play great just leave it and save yourself money.

If your fine with watching movies on the computer instead of the T.V, stick with it.

P.S Get a new Video card if you want better fps ( Frames per second) but make sure it's compatible with your computer.|||Are you able to watch movies OK currently? You don't actually say whether you are satisfied with movies currently. Playing movies does not need a mega video card anyway.

If you were playing 3d games then yes your video card would be underpowered for that.

Apart from that your system looks quite reasonable for power and RAM etc.

Can my PC use an installed video graphics card if it already has an integrated one?

Looking to buy warhammer online, and my PC meets all of the requirements except for the video graphics card, which is the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE (I've heard it's quite a horrible card), but it's integrated. If I buy an upgraded video card, will the computer be able to use it or will it have to use the integrated card? |||yes it does |||When you connect the new graphics card to your computer, the integrated card stops working. Do it.|||yes it will install and automaticlly detect itself |||Yes you can install a new card and disable the integrated graphics.

Make sure first that your motherboard supports a PCI-e x 16 slot, and that your power supply can support the electrical requirements of a higher end card. You may have to restrict yourself to midrange cards that don't need supplemental power.|||In almost all cases, yes. I remember the Intel 810 series of motherboards didn't have anything but PCI slots, but almost any other board manufacturered since then has had an AGP or PCI-Express slot for an add-in card.

Check your motherboard's data sheet to make sure that the video card you select is compatible with the motherboard.|||Yes, you can install another video card. You may need to disable the onboard card, depending on who manufactured your pc.|||Absolutely positively without the shadow of a doubt yes you can buy a video card for your PC. The 7900 GS KO is a very nice Budget card that can easily handle that game. Go for an 8800GTX if you can afford it.

Go to the newegg power site to see if your PSU can handle the power needs.

This MOBO takes a PCI-Express card.

Upgrading RAM and video card on dell latitude d830 laptop?

if i upgrade my RAM is this the same thing as upgrading my video card? i ask because when i google search upgrade video card for my laptop, dell only offers me the upgrade RAM page.

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/memco…|||On D830s with both the Intel and Nvidia graphics, the graphics card is soldered onto the motherboard and can't be replaced or upgraded unless you swap the entire motherbaord.

If you have Intel graphics, you can upgrade your graphics by swapping out your entire motherboard for the motherboard with an Nvidia 140M chip on it, which is marginally better. The problem is that this is expensive, and the Nvidia 140M chip (along with several other Nvidia chips from around 2007-2008) has a known manufacturing defect (defective solder pads or something like that) that causes it to overheat and eventually fail, so upgrading your graphics is a fairly poor idea.

And upgrading the RAM and video card aren't the same thing and won't result in equivalent performance increases because they're different things. That's like taking a fighter jet and asking if upgrading the engines and the weaponry are the same thing.|||You can't upgrade the video card because Dell is a evil corporation who thinks it is cool to install Intel Integrated graphics because the majority of the buyers of dells just play flash games and e-mail and Facebook. If I were you, I would get a Toshiba.|||Ram is upgradeable, graphics on a laptop is not, as it is part of the motherboard, sorry.

Upgrading Video Card from Radeon HD 3650 512mb?

Upgrading video card?

I want to upgrade my computer's video card and I found one that I would like to get - ATI Radeon HD3870 - but I've heard that it won't fit in a Dell E510 because it is too big. Is this true, and if it is, are there any other comparable video cards that are as good as the HD3870 and as cheap?|||yes, i have heard of this before, but i can't remember when or where

ask a dell technician|||Pop open the case and see how much room you have. Newer cards are about 8-8.5" long (ie the width of a standard ATX motherboard), though some cards like the 9800GTX are longer.

Since you found a card you like, consider the nvidia equivalent: The 9600GT. It's a fine card, and performs comparably to the ATI HD3870. The ATI runs better at lower quality settings, but if you turn on all the AntiAliasing/high settings, the 9600 scores better.

Upgrading Video Card?

I recently purchased a Gateway LX-6200 2.2Ghz Phenom X4 9500, 8GB DDR2 Memory, Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) and ATI Integrated graphics card. I was thinking of upgrading my video card due to less than stellar FPS when playing World of Warcraft. Was just wondering if it is possible to do so and what would be a good option for me to purchase?|||As noted, you can upgrade a desktop machine with the proper video card matching your video slot on your machine.

The important item is to see if you need to update your power supply to handle the new video card.

Sarge|||i would go for a recognised brand of graphics as integrated graphics that come with pcs are not designed for gaming. they can at most handle movies or games that are several years old. i would see if you can get a gpu as it would add processing power onto your cpu as well as displaying images. therefore you would experience increased speed and faster graphics. I dont know about compatability for your system so i wont say but do get the biggest card you can afford.|||I think you should stick with with ATI so you can run duel monitors if needed.

In Australia, you can buy anything from a

512M 8400GS $45AU to a PCI E 16x 2GB 4870x2 Dual core for around $750AU retail.

bare in mind this upgrade is possible providing you have a spare PCI express 16x slot on your motherboard.|||This is a tough question to answer - this is a desktop PC and therefore it can be upgraded, but suggesting an upgrade is largely based on what you expect performance wise. World of Warcraft is not a particularly heavyweight game, even with everything turned up. It looks like your machine comes with the ATI HD 3200 integrated, so there are several cards that would be faster. I personally would look towards something like the Nvidia 9800GT/GTX since its currently in the sweet spot pricewise at ~$100-150 with pretty good performance.

Check out sites like anandtech.com and tomshardware.com to get reviews of current video card performance.|||You have a very good configuration in your PC except VGA card. Actually ATI is a well recognized brand but integrated graphics do not support for gaming. They are very poor in HDR lightening and Pixel shader which are two main features which supports for gaming. If you have PCI-Express slot in your motherboard you can go for a good VGA card. If you go for good VGA, it increases not only the performance in gaming but also the quality of pictures, movies and you can enable high resolutions and video effects,3D effects without decreasing the performance of your PC .

I recommend you to go for a VGA of a well recognized brand like NVIDIA or ATI . Actually I do not know much about ATI VGA models. These are some NVIDIA GEFORCE VGA cards which are suitable for gaming which are in ascending order of performance in gaming. 8500GT, 8600GT, 8800GT, 8800GTS, 8800GTX, 8800Ultra, 9800GX2.

Actually 9800GX2 is extremely good for gaming but very expensive. But 8800GTX is very good VGA for gaming and can purchase for a reasonable price in these days. It was a one of the best VGAs of NVIDIA, one year ago. I think it is good to go for the best one you can afford. ASUS and XFX are good manufacturers for NVIDIA VGA Cards.

you can compare these VGAs and many more NVIDIA VGAs by visiting this link.

Video card installation question?

When installing an upgraded video card, is it easy to do, or would it be better to have a professional like geek squad or something do it?|||It's somewhat easy. Here's the basic run through:

When you open your PC, make sure to ground yourself to remove all static electricity so you won't fry your new video card or motherboard.

If you're upgrading an existing card, just remove the old one, and insert the new card in its place.

Boot the PC, install the drivers.|||its pretty easy|||The hardest part is getting one that will work (you have a big enough power supply for and a slot for it to fit in (usually PCI E x16)). Installing it is usually pretty simple.|||Save your money and PC from The GeekSquad, it's simple to do yourself. Just install the new card and the drivers and you are done with the install. uninstall old cards drivers and you done.|||It depends on your computer experience, All you have to do is open up the computer and remove the old one and put in the new one. They only fit in one place, and your new card will only fit where the old one was, so it's pretty hard to screw up. Still, if you're not comfortable with opening your computer and installing software for it, then you should go with a service.|||As long as you correctly know the spec of ya motherboard & it's capacity on installing new hardware, like the video card upgrade then it should be straight forward with no probs.

Research this though on the net - web sites that guide you through upgrades, that's how I've proceeded with all mine.

Good Luck mate.

Can't upgrade video card on Acer Extensa 5620. Anyway to boost it?

Allright so I just asked if I should buy a new video card for my Acer Extensa 5620.

Intel Core 2 duo T5250

Intel GMA X3100

2 GB DDR2

etc.

I was told that my video card is actually soldered to the motherboard, so there is no chacne of upgrade.

Is there anyway of increasing the performance so I could play some higher end games? I have a good 250$ to spare or so and noticed I could upgrade the processer to a T8300. Does this come with a better video card? A new processor couldnt hurt so it seems like a good idea.

Mostly I am looking to boost gaming performance for high end games ex. CoD or Fallout 3 or the like.|||with laptops youre pretty much stuck with what you first bought theres really nothing more you can do besides maybe upgrading the ram and processor

Also, intel atom is very tiny and there is not alot it can handle. I have ATI RADEON but i also have intel core 2 duo, which has 2 cores and it has the capability to withstand ATI.

So my question in detail is.. .What do I need to know if I want to upgrade? Will I have to buy a larger power supply? Will I need to install extra fans or some sort of cooling system?

Will my motherboard even support this GFX card model? (I don't know what motherboard I have and don't know how to figure it out)

I'm lost with this technology, and really want to be able to experience DX10 games, and replay games I can no longer play...

Thanks so much in advance = )|||Need to know:

1. Do you have a x16 PCIe slot and enough space on your motherboard for that monster card? It will cover the space of another PCI slot.

2. Do you have a Southbridge chip that is positioned closer to the middle of the board instead of towards the edge? Does it have a tall heatsink that could obstruct the card?

3. Do you have at least 26 amperes on the +12V rail of your power supply? That card draws up to 9 amperes on the +12V rail.

This one should have no trouble powering a PC with that card:

Good thing you're doing for your computer by upgrading the video hardware. Not only will you see a better performance in games, but a video card will also take off some strain from your CPU while watching movies and such.

Since you prefer an nVidia card, and you have an Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) on your motherboard, it will be much easier to pinpoint a good deal for ya.

Check out all the nVidia GPUs in this wiki entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_…

In the above list of comparisons, you can find any card that supports the AGP slot, and pick the one that's right for you.

Here is the latest nVidia card compatible with your AGP slot:

http://www.google.com/products?q=XFX+GeF…

And here is the best bargain for the same card:

http://www.netfreez.com/products/XFX_nVi…

It's quite expensive, and it would require a new power supply. Personally, that's the card I would go with. If you want to go for something cheaper, just use the Wiki entry above as a reference.

Good Luck!|||Umm, you're not providing enough info - Nvidia makes a lot of different chipsets - and many people have made cards built on them. Also, many different kinds of computers were made 4 years ago - just like now.

You need to specify what kind of port you have (specifying the computer model would also help). There are three basic types of port for the graphics card. In order of their age, they are, PCI, AGP & the new PCI-e (which otherwise has no resemblance or compatibility w/PCI). If you got a mainstream brand of PC, you can go to the manufacturer's site and search by the model no. - you should be able to find some page devoted to what kind of ports your machine has.

If you've got PCI ports, consider sticking with what you've got, since performance, by nature of the primitve port, will be restricted. If you go for a PCI card, and it will cost, you'll probably due do best with a card using 128MB of RAM.

Just to give you an indication how useless age alone is, consider that my current machine, a Dell Dimension 3000, has no AGP graphics port on its motherboard, meaning I was stuck with either the on-board "integrated graphics" or a PCI card with little better performance. This despite the fact that the PC my DD replaced did have an AGP port, and was purchased about 4 years later. It's like getting a new car and finding that it still has a tape deck. (It was a budget computer and actually a great performer.)|||the chances that your pc actually stil uses pci for video cards are remote to slim especially ina 2004 computer by that time AGP was riding high and all new computer came equipped with AGP nvidia already phased out pci support in the early 2000's

you can buy a new video card as long as you are sure you have a AGP slot ( open your pc and check the slot your current video card is installed in if its brown its AGP if its white its pci )

nvidia stil makes AGP video cards

the only other aspect you need to be aware of is that you have a power supply that is adequate to run the card. Cheap cards will run from the slot on a 300. More powerful cards need a spare rail and a 450 or higher.

Able to upgrade video card on my PC?

Hi,

I am looking to upgrade the graphics in my HP Slimline PC s5220y.

Windows 7 Home Premium

Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.6Ghz

4GB DDR2 SDRAM

PCI Express slot x16

------>220W Power Supply<----------IMPORTANT

Can anyone give me a decent idea of what to buy? Your input is greatly appreciated.

As a second part to this question... it seems my choices may be less inhibited if I were able to find a bigger PSU for this machine. Has anyone heard of upgrading the PSU in an HP s5220y to a psu that has at least 300w? If so, what mfg. and part number? One of the greatest things about this machine is the nice piano black finish, but if all I have to do is purchase a new case with bigger psu, I will tear this thing apart to upgrade the graphics.

Thanks in advance all for your replies!

Suggestions please?

Thank you for all the help/.|||Well, that particular Asus comes with a 300 watt power supply, which limits your upgrade options.

The best cards you could install without having to buy a new power supply are:

GeForce GT240

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Radeon HD 5570

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Either would be fine for casual gaming, but for more demanding titles you'd want a graphics card closer to $120 like the Radeon 5750 or GeForce GTS 450.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

However, since those cards require more power, your total upgrade cost would be closer to $160.

Games that will be played include WOW and lord of the rings, will this boost performance on lord of the rings and improve frame rate on WOW in this upgrade? also, i would like to run these games on high video settings, will this card allow me to do that? if other video cards are recommended, they MUST be no more that $100 and MUST be PCI, not PCI express or agp.|||The PCI bus was never designed to transfer vast amounts of video data (that's why they made AGP slots), so there are severe limitations with high frame rates, high irresolutions and high detail displays on PCI video cards.

I think it's time to chance the motherboard to something that can do AGP or even PCI-E.

There are better way to spend these $100, a PCI video card is not it. Try finding a motherboard that will have an AGP slot and allows you to keep your memory and processor. Then get an GP card.|||You are better off applying that $100 towards the purchase of a new PC. If you are limiting yourself to the PCI bus, your video card is always going to be an issue.

You will get something of a boost to your gaming... but its not going to make you go "WOW!" (no pun intended).|||To be honest, with that setup I don't think you can run much of anything at high graphic settings.

Any upgrade will help, but not that much. You are really limited with just a PCI interface...that's really slow.

Sorry.|||just get an 8600gt , they have them on newegg.com for about 100 dollars and they will play just about anything on max.|||If you seriously want an "upgrade". Then go for no less than GeForce 7600 or 6800.

and upgrade the power-supply if required, otherwise, it wouldn't be worth upgrading to 5500 to 6200, in today's world. Seriously.|||Even if you got a new card, the PCI standard is very slow.|||you have no breathing room =/, its really to bad if you don't have a agp slot was gonna recommend a 6800 from evga but yea see you have a 250w very low...considering the vid cards that you want are determined usually on your psu but well in your case its the slot as well, even tho your fx5500 prolly says it needs no more then a 250w your cutting it kind of close.... I cant stress enough DONT BOTTLE NECK UR DEVISES from power. you should have a 300 at least. you might be pushing it with that 6200 and the 250watt psu....|||http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?s… THIS CARD IS THE BADDEST MOFO OF ALL PCI's, IT WILL TAKE A LEVEL 4 NIGHTELF AND TURN HIM INTO A LEVEL 425 DEMONSLAYER! Thats a canadian site however. Has some american stuff, don't know if they ship there. And I don't even know if your american! I am assuming! the ati 1550 will run brand new games not to mention your wow and lotr! 100buck in canada, even though the dollars even, you can still find one in the states for cheaper! Happy gaming!|||there's not much different between to two to notice a boost.

Want to upgrade video card?

Thinking about finnally getting a few games for my PC. I have a Dell XPS 400 with 250 GB Hard, 1 GB Memory, 3GHz Pross. and a 256MB NVIDIA Ge Force 300LE Video card. Should I upgrade the video card if I get something like Gears of War? What should I get and can Iput it in myself? Any other ideas?|||There is a cheap 8800GT, lifetime warranty when you register it. You can install the video card yourself easily. I'm not sure if your current video card is agp or pci-e, but this card is pci-e, and you want to make sure your computer has a pci-express slot in it. Also I'd consider getting another gig of ram, 2 gigs is what i've been running for a few years now and prices are cheap.|||An 8800gt will do you fine in any game out today. It's renown for it's price/performance ratio so it's a great buy. It'll play gears of war in maximum graphics depending on the size of your monitor. If your processor's atleast up to date then it'll be fine.

Can I install Nividia 512 video card?

E|||Hi

I don't think you can actually buy 6150 'cards' as such as that graphics chipset is (these days at least) integrated into motherboard.

to play games on your machine the best bet is to get a dedicated gaming card. this will give you a MUCH better time of it with a game like COD4

if your machine is less than 3 years olf you will have a pci-e 16x slot. This is where your graphics card will go on your motherboard.

to get a sense of whats available have a look here

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/06/b…

the 8600gt is an ok entry-level card. they retail for about $130. for $250 you can get an 8800gt which is an awesome card and will give you lots of eye-candy on COD4. You would be amazed at the improvement over what you have now.

For example, the 4870 will not likely run as it needs a hefty power supply.

You have to shop for the video cards that match your power supply. If it's a 300W supply for example, you have to shop for a video card that recommends a 300W supply or less (most of the lower end ones will)

Help upgrading video card?

Hi, I currently have a Radeon x800 Pro/Gto video card. I did a scan and it came back saying that I have AGP version 3.0 on my motherboard. I wanted to ask what I should upgrade to in order to get a better gaming experience. I play games like Company of Heroes and such. I need something preferrably under $50. Any help would be greatly appreciated.|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

I believe you should get(try) a 1650 at least, but here's a site that might tell youwhat games does how well on each of those cards(look in the charts)...

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/How-…|||Under $50 you're probably not going to get much movement in performance in regards to graphics cards, particularly on the AGP slot as there have been some good cards released since the time of the x800 but as they are becoming uncommon their prices aren't really dropping as much as they should.

My advice would probably be to look at the 'newer' radeons on Ebay or something similar. For example a radeon x1300 is going for roughly $65 Australian on ebay it seems.

Upgrading Video card Dual 9600 GT or something else?

3.0ghz quad core 4 gigs of ram etc

Currently I have one 9600GT, what should I do to to get the most of Aion.|||Stay with what you got but if Money is no object upgrade to 9800GT NVIDIA any Brand but if you can get the XFX|||If money is not an issue, I recommend getting the 295GTX and use that 9800gt as a phys Accelerator/Engine. Depend on if you have the new Nvidia SLI motherboard that will enable this option. The 295GTX is basically 2x285GTX in one making it SLI in one card slot and use the 9800gt as a phys engine. This will be a kick *** setup.

Upgrade video card, recommend please?

Have nvidia 6100(ha-ha pos motherboard) has pci-express slot, need cheap card. Been looking at 9600 GSO, 768mb for $78, or 8400GT,etc., etc. Going to play WoW only, just got game and need boost to vid card. Adding 2 GB Ram to system too. Not looking for over the top but need to improve on 20 fps outside cities and 12-16 inside. $120 or less please|||That would probably work. Here's something that may help you. On Nvidia cards, the second number always means the quality 1, I believe, is integrated (motherboard) 4 is cheap, good for work (enternet, word etc.) 6 is kind of a mix between budget and gaming, and 8 is straight up gaming (but usually eats up power.) The first number is the series. One tool that I used it www.tomshardware.com under charts then graphics cards. That will give you an idea.|||I think the 9600 GSO will do fine, but u should look into a card that is slightly overclocked like this one,

http://www.amazon.com/PNY-Verto-GeForce-…

heres a website if u need to look at the specs of some cards:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/graphics_ca…|||The 9600 GSO is nice. Check them on Newegg deals:

Also, get compatible Crucial RAM for your RAMs:

What kind of Video card/RAM is right for my computer?

I own a Sony Vaio VGC-RB30. The specifications are in this link (since I don't know what exactly to list): http://www.superwarehouse.com/Sony_VAIO_…

I am told that I have an open PCI Express slot in which I can insert a video card. What kind/brand of video card should I buy and what series? I've heard all kinds of NVIDIA cards but I don't know what series or know of other brands.

Similarly, are there specific brands of RAM that are more reliable/work better than non-branded ones? Does RAM come in kits, seperate or both?

For video cards, I'm looking for nothing more than maybe $150.00 and for RAM, probably nothing more than $100.00.

Also, given my specs, what should I know about upgrading video cards and RAM in order not to kill my computer?

What I'm going to be using these upgrading for is for playing online games (i.e. World of Warcraft) so it would be wonderful if anyone can elaborate on my needs.

Thank you and I look forward to any replies!|||for RAM, which is also known as system memory, go to crucial.com and do a system scan. They will tell you what kind, and you can buy it straight from them for good prices.

The crucial website will tell you whether you need to remove some RAM. Sometimes you have to do this because RAM must work in certain configurations. The website will give you the best recommended configuration.

There are many tutorials online for installing RAM. Just remove the old and and insert the new. Make sure its all the way in though, it takes at least 20lbs of pressure...both clips on each side should be click up.

Installing RAM is very easy, just don't be overwhelmed. It will cost much less than $100

As far as video cards, you can buy a very nice one within your price range. I bought an AGP Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT for under $150. Basically the higher the number (for me 7300) the better. The current highest is 8800, but you definitely will not need that. I would recommend going to a retail store that sells them (i got mine at CompUSA but their dead....i think BestBuy sells them, any computer store really) and telling them what kinds of games you will be playing and they will direct you to the best one for your interests. World of Warcraft is not that graphically intensive, so I don't think youll need over 7300.

...also, if you want system information, download aida32. its a free program that tells you EVERYTHING about your computer. Its really great.

good luck!|||go to run and type "dxdiag" it will give you all your system specs

Power Supply > Video Card Upgrade - Is it worth it?

eMachines T3506

Intel Celeron D Processor 352

3.20GHz

553 MHz FSB

512 KB L2 Cache

Video

ATI Radeon Xpress 200 with available PCI-express slot

Hard Drive (not so important - its enough for me)

120GB

Memory

880MB DDR SDRAM (its supposed to be one gig but its shared)

Video Memory

128MB I guess...

I was planning to upgrade to a 400-500 Watt Power Supply (max) and then to a video card from nVidia. If i did this, i would have full 1GIG RAM and video memory not shared. RIght now i know my video card sucks, and my processor is not the best but its all i can have for the next 2 years...

1. Is it worth upgrading?

2. Is the Celeron D processor that bad?

3. If i upgraded video card and power supply, could my computer be better for things like gaming, etc.?

4. Is it hard to switch power supplies?|||With your current setup, your gaming experience will be completely frustrating.

I would upgrade.

Your processor is fine for gaming and graphics. People think that processor speed is everything but it's not. It's like rating an engine by the rpm's. The larger issues are things like RAM (I'd get another gig, one isn't enough for gaming), hard drive (should be at least 7200 rpm) and video card setup.

Get the best video card you can afford. It should be pciexpress. The more memory on the card the better and should have it's it own cooling fan. If the computers power supply is less than 400 watts, then upgrade to accomodate the video card. Doing this and getting another gig of ram will give you fantastic frame rates on pretty much any game out there.

Before you buy the new power supply, get the dimensions of the existing ps to insure the new one is the same. Also look at the computers manual to make sure you buy one with the correct connectors to the mother board. The hook ups going to things like cdroms, dvd drives, hard drives, etc, will always be universal. Replacing the ps is then a simple matter of a few screws and a few plug changes.

I did this exact same thing about a year and a half ago and my system will still handle any game out there.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

Edit- Don't get a cheap video card as the other posters suggest. If your ps is 300 to 350 watts, it WILL be necessary to upgrade with pcie.

Don't forget to dissable the shared onboard memory in your bios after you upgrade.

Download the latest drivers as opposed to using the cd that comes with the new card.|||Of course, it is worth upgrading.

Now, dual core is popular but Celeron D is not bad too.

Yes, your computer is better in gaming after upgrading and

it is not hard to switch power supply.|||It could possibly be worth upgrading. Don't worry about the power supply and you can get a better video card. You will have to look up a graphics card and make sure that it works for your computer. Is the graphics card that you have on your mother board integrated? If it is then you can still add on another card. Power supply is not that hard to change out. But def. try and get a better video card if you want to do gaming.|||1. Yes you can buy a good nvidia card for like $50 w/ 256mb of ddr built-in so its defiantly worth getting that ram back and ill think that you would defiantly see the difference in speed.

2. The celeron d is not bad if your just doing things such as websurfing and word processing, its not very good when your trying to run multiple processes at one time and/or serious gaming and photoshop, etc. If this bothers you can go to frys and look at there processors I take it your is socket 775 last time I was there they had a 3.0 socket 775 P4 Processor w/ HT for only $30 and even though its not technically dual core it should have better performance than the celeron d.

3.Yes the video card will be better for gaming, the PS really doesn't matter as long as all your hardware is getting the necessary power.

4. It is not hard to switch PS but why would you? if your PS now can handle what your running a video card should not cause you to change them out unless its pulling a godly amound of power on its own.|||1 & 2. Celerons don't make such a great gaming machine, but if you can't afford anything else I'd upgrade it.

3. Your computer would mainly be better for gaming and anything graphical. Other than that such as word docs etc wouldn't speed up (maybe a tiny bit since your freeing up that that that would be used for video processing).

4. Pretty easy, just gotta make sure you plug the stuff into the proper places (just unplug and replace as you go).|||The processor is junk. Everything is junk. Save up and get a real computer.|||If your computer powers on, you dont need to replace the power supply.

Your box is top of the line, my machine is half of what yours is.

Upgrading the video card will give you all of your memory for non video purposes.

Power supplies are easy to switch but again, you only upgrade them if you add some hard drives and/or Optical drives and find your computer no longer able to turn on.|||For gaming, the video card upgrade is definitely worth it.

Celeron-D is pretty weak by today's standards. But at 3.20Ghz you'll be ok with a real video card replacing the integrated Xpress 200 and it's shared memory. You'd see a huge jump in performance even with a $50 card like a 7300GT.

I'd suggest something better but not too expensive, like a GeForce 7600GT for $75 or maybe a Geforce 8600GT for a little more. For the 7600GT, you probably don't even need to upgrade the PSU- it's famous for low power consumption.

Anything more expensive than $150 would probably be a waste, since your processor wouldn't achieve maximum frame rates anyway. Your Celeron cannot push a Radeon X1950XT or Geforce 8800 GTS to their limits, so don't burn your cash on upper-tier cards until you've got a better CPU.

If your CPU was just a bit more powerful like an Athlon X2 3800+, then the $200-$250 cards would be worthwhile. The cards in that range definitely require a PSU upgrade. But with your Celeron, there's no point in buying a great card today thinking you'll keep it later; by the time you have a better machine it will be outdated, and a newer generation of graphics cards will be available.

Power supply upgrades aren't usually tough, you just need a screwdriver and maybe a flashlight. The only times they're a pain:

1) When the case design is cramped. You might have to remove other stuff like RAM and the video card, in order to get at the power supply. But since you plan on pulling the video card anyway, no biggie.

2) When the machine uses a non-standard sized PSU (like Dell) A 470w power supply for a Dell costs twice as much as a regular ATX one.

First upgrade your Ram if you can to at least 2 GIG. This will help your CPU work more efficiently.

Second , Seeing how you only have a 305W power supply, You are going to be limited to a few cards. The one I suggest is the ATI 4670 because it will give you increased performance over your 6600 and you won't need a power supply upgrade.

Upgrading Video Card?

I have a 9800GTX. It JUST fits in my case. I am still eligible for the BFG step-up program, but a better card would be bigger, wouldn't it (GTX200 series)? I don't have an sli motherboard. Help?|||I do not understand. You have a 9800 GTX which plays every PC game on the market in fluid perfection. Why the upgrade? Are you wanting to play games or have bragging rights? With a 9800 you do not need SLI and I do not get why you feel the need for more power.

Edit update: There is a rummer going around that Crysis was not coded very well and may never have good frame rates with a super computer, all because of this poor coding. In other words you just might be waisting your time and money trying to achieve frame rates with a program that might not pan out. Do you not wonder why people are still getting such low frame rates with a game that has been out over a year. Computers and video cards are getting faster every day but Cyrsis still can not get over 35 fps?????

Yes the 200 series are much faster and can be set to SLI but will still not gut bust Cyrsis. Look at some back issues of Maximum PC and see for yourself.|||Gforce or Rayon. They are the best. Tiger direct has the best. Match it with your processer. If not it want work right.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3048563&csid=_23

will this work for my computer?|||Yes, It will work just fine. The Dimension 8400 takes PCI Express and you must know this since you selected a PCI Express card. The card should do well. Maybe you should think about investing in some RAM as well. Unless you already have 512 isn't much if your gaming. Go for 1GB for smoother loading times.

Question about upgrading graphics card?

I'm new to the whole upgrading video card thing and I just have a few questions. I have a 3 year old Dell Optiplex 755 with the standard video card in it. I'm thinking of upgrading it to the GeForce 9800GT or the Radeon HD 4670. How would I find out if my computer is able to support the power that the cards need as well as if the cards are compatible with my computer. I also want to connect my computer to my HD TV and play games like WoW and Starcraft II. Thanks in advance.|||With 305 watts of power supply,Radeon HD 4670 is your best option.Geforce 9800 GT will require a 400 watts of a Power supply with one 6 pin PCI-E power connector so your stock power supply is not adequet for 9800 GT.

with 450-500 watts of power supply, you can run cards that are even more better than the 9800 GT.if you can then this power supply can handle 9800GT fine and much faster radeon HD 5770.

|||Just look at a laptop and a new high end desktop graphics card together...you will note the video card is bigger than the laptop!!! other than physical size, and in an effort to keep the overall size and weight of the laptop down, "built in" graphics are used. To make a laptop perform as well as a high end desktop (which can and is done) the expense is exorbitant at best! A laptops primary purpose is work related so the need for hi end graphics isn't there. Since the CPU and video are soldered onto the mother board and getting at a laptop mother board is so difficult and tricky..to "upgrade" almost anything outside the RAM and hard drive its simpler to just buy a new/better equipped laptop.|||Because it's attached, like your arm's attached to your torso.

To replace your arm, I'll have to cut off your original arm, keep all the connections intact, so I can attach a new arm with all the other connections, but then I'll still have to match all the other sizes and connections like nerves and muscles and blood vessels and tendons and whatnot.

Same in a laptop: the video module is a part of the mainboard, and you can't cut a mainboard: the connections are INSIDE the board (in multiple layers).

Desktops are different. The video card goes in an expansion slot, just remove and replace. Plenty of room inside to do the work. It's like you've already been bionic-ized and just unplug the old arm and put in an new one.

Thanks :)|||yes it is possibe upgrading your video card.. for a dell. all you must make sure is that your video card is 512mb or higher..that is when you will recieve better picture quality and of coarse the games will be a lot crispier with there images.

Upgrading Video Card?

Alright, I built my gaming machine ground up. My computer has some of the top parts from Fall of 2009..... up to the power supply and video card, which is an old XFX 8600 Nvidia. I am an AMD fan, but always used Nvidia cards, perhaps the responders can also give me their input between choosing ATI or Nvidia when the answer the following questions:

I have a $255 limit (that includes S&H) and currently have 480 watt power supply. Now I have looked into some nice cards out there in my price range, but good ones want me to have a bigger power supply (500 or 600 most of the time). This is a sloppy question, I know, but does anyone have any recommended cards for me to look at? And should I get a new power supply?|||Well, ATI's new 5000 series cards are very energy-efficient. The Radeon 5770 only requires a 450W power supply and goes for $160-$175, so it's the most likely pick. Of course that leaves you with enough cash for a supply upgrade it desired, but it's probably not necessary.

Older generation cards of that level (Radeon 4870 and GTX 260) require at least 550W and a pair of PCI-E power connectors.|||Yes, you'll need a bigger powersupply, especially since you probably don't have an efficient PSU that's 80+ Certified.

I would recommend getting a new PSU now, and save up for your new graphics card later. I recommend a Corsair PSU, they are one of the best, if not the best, PSU manufacturer.

As for a video card, the 5830 is the right card for your price range:

Help with upgrading video card.?

I would like to get a video card to run newer games(DoW2), right now i have a radeon x550 and i want to get something that has pixel shader 3.0 , also my motherboard only has a PCI slot, so do i need a new one?|||PCI bus is slow and outdated for 3D graphics acceleration. Get a new motherboard that has PCI express slot.

Check out the following review. Serious gaming requires at least the ATI HD 4670 or the Geforce 9600GT. http://www.techspot.com/review/134-budge…

Re-activate Windows Vista when upgrading Video card?

I recently upgraded to Microsoft Vista and activated it. Now I want to upgrade my video card, will it just be a matter of uninstalling drivers and installing the new card? or do I need to re-activate Windows Vista after?|||When you first activate windows, it sends information about hardware to MIcrosoft. If you make a lot of upgrades in a short period of time, windows will think it's being installed on a totally different computer. In that case, you should call the folks at microsoft and convince them you're not staeling their software.

You will still have to install some drivers,l though. Refer to the owners manual for drivers.|||With Vista, all bets are off. Anything that is supposed to happen might not. If Microsoft has their way, you will have to buy a new copy of Windows each time you sneeze.|||No, you will not have to reactivate if all you've changed is the video card. Reactivation only happens if you change more than one device (4 or more) since you first activated.

Upgrading video card on my MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 duo?

I want to upgrade my current video card from the Radeon X1600, to something (anything) that will give me more than 9 frames per second running GTA IV. I've played with the settings and I'm on the lowest graphic settings there is...

Anyone have suggestions for a new video card that would work with my MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 duo?|||Good luck replacing a video card in a laptop period - but especially for a Mac.

First, you would have to find a card suitable for a Mac, then a Mac laptop, and can fit into the location that the one you have now fits into. It would also have to take the same connection that yours does now as well.

Basically, it's pretty difficult.

My suggestion would be to not even bother. Especially with alot of decent laptops coming out that won't break the bank, it makes more sense to purchase a laptop for your gaming needs, and keep the MacBook for what it does best - looking awesome and working like a beast.

Video Card Upgrade?

My specs: Sempron3000+ 2 GHz, 1GB DDR400 ram, EVGA FX5500 AGP. I want to upgrade video card. I see some reviews in the 7600GS "If u dont have at least DDR2 sys. ram and 2.33Ghz of cpu you won't get the max out of this card." Is this true? So if I get a 7600GT AGP or 7800GS AGP I *wont* see a difference with having to upgrade to a 7600GS AGP? I can go for any card.|||It is not ddr RAM that would bottleneck the fast graphics card, it is your PROCESSOR. The 7600GS AGP is not really a fast mainstream card. Just overclock your Sempron to 2.4ghz and you could max out the performance of the 7600GS. 7600 GT, 7800GS and higher cards would be bottlenecked by your Sempron even if overclocked. Better upgrade your processor if you want to get your money's worth on the 7800 or higher cards.|||if you've got enough cash to upgrade your motherboard to PCIe, then i'd suggest you do so instead of trying to buy an AGP video card. Since most manufacturers are trying to phase out their AGP cards. if you check the net, prices for lower quality AGP cards are nearly the same as the high end PCIe cards. you can keep your RAM card if it's DDR2 or higher and your hard drive if it is also SATA compatible|||7600GS isn't exactly a killer videocard, it could fare well on a DDR1 system. If you had an Athlon 64 or so, 2GHz is pretty fine too since AMD processor doesn't require high frequency as compared to Intel P4.

But anyway, your sempron processor is a budget processor, so its performance is lower as compare to athlon or Pentiums.

You will see a difference, but you may not be utilizing your graphic card.

GeForce 6600GT was a pretty good graphic card, if only you can still finds one. Otherwise, 7600GS will do just fine. Don't waste your money on 7600GT.|||You will see a big difference by getting the 7600 GT.

and even bigger if you get the 7800GS.
