Upgrade video card?

i want to upgrade from a nvidia geforce fx 5500 128mb video card to a evga geforce 6200 256mb video card. Games that will be played include WOW and lord of the rings, will this boost performance on lord of the rings and improve frame rate on WOW in this upgrade? also, i would like to run these games on high video settings, will this card allow me to do that? if other video cards are recommended, they MUST be no more that $100 and MUST be PCI, not PCI express or agp.|||The PCI bus was never designed to transfer vast amounts of video data (that's why they made AGP slots), so there are severe limitations with high frame rates, high irresolutions and high detail displays on PCI video cards.



I think it's time to chance the motherboard to something that can do AGP or even PCI-E.



There are better way to spend these $100, a PCI video card is not it. Try finding a motherboard that will have an AGP slot and allows you to keep your memory and processor. Then get an GP card.|||You are better off applying that $100 towards the purchase of a new PC. If you are limiting yourself to the PCI bus, your video card is always going to be an issue.



You will get something of a boost to your gaming... but its not going to make you go "WOW!" (no pun intended).|||To be honest, with that setup I don't think you can run much of anything at high graphic settings.

Any upgrade will help, but not that much. You are really limited with just a PCI interface...that's really slow.

Sorry.|||just get an 8600gt , they have them on newegg.com for about 100 dollars and they will play just about anything on max.|||If you seriously want an "upgrade". Then go for no less than GeForce 7600 or 6800.

and upgrade the power-supply if required, otherwise, it wouldn't be worth upgrading to 5500 to 6200, in today's world. Seriously.|||Even if you got a new card, the PCI standard is very slow.|||you have no breathing room =/, its really to bad if you don't have a agp slot was gonna recommend a 6800 from evga but yea see you have a 250w very low...considering the vid cards that you want are determined usually on your psu but well in your case its the slot as well, even tho your fx5500 prolly says it needs no more then a 250w your cutting it kind of close....
