Upgrade video card and switch to linux to salvage old computer?

so i have a old dell dimension desktop that i wanna turn into a linux os media center/ internet surfing . windows is useless cause i made sure the 32 gb harddrive could never be salvaged. so is it as simple as going to bestbuy buying a 1 tb harddrive and EVGA - GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI Graphics Card . booting the new harddrive from a iso linux cd download. and the drivers from dell? lastly will this make a fast enough computer for youtube? appriciate the help and any other little things i would be forgetting to do.|||my Suggestions would be either

- Xubuntu - Speed

- Mythbuntu - MediaCenter|||You need to tell all the computer specs.

Yes my computer can handle youtube on linux and it only has a 128mb graphics card (ATI RADEON MOBILITY X600)

Linux comes with most drivers preinstalled so you shouldn't have to get the drivers from dell

yes it is that simple if you get lost just ask your linux distributions support forums or irc for elp|||You may also consider downloading reginout for this.|||Elements OS is good for a HTPC.
