I did a fresh install and still no luck the device is just not there anymore. I even downloaded the new drivers etc......so frustrating any help would be great. Pc has on board audio and video it was running Realtek .... stumped|||check every setting, and make sure that it is not conflicting. unplug the video card and make sure that it is not the card causing the problem. if the onboard audio went bad, you could always pick up a pci sound card.|||BUMP...
same situation happen to me last night but figure it out by a min.
When u install this new ati card, it will upgrade and use this driver too (the sound driver even thou your are upgrading GPU only)
Click START, CONTOL PANEL, SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICE,
go to the AUDIO tab,
can u see the default playback? choose your default device as earlier.
enjoy your new GPU :)
