Upgrading Video Card?

Hi,

I wanted to make sure If I bought a new video card, it would be compatible with my current motherboard.

Motherboard: Board: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. M57SLI-S4

Video Card I'd Like: Anything significantly better than a NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

Suggestions and info appreciated =D|||Yea that's a pretty board any of the new pci Express card is fine. The only concern i would have is whether your case is big enough for it most of the higher gaming cards requires more space cause they're longer and bigger. The other issue is whether your powersupply is strong enough. You'll need a 650watt or higher most video cards requires 400watt on it's own.

if you're looking for buy a good one i would go with the Nvidia 280 BFG

something more affortable would be 9800GT+ OC 512mb.

If you get Ati 4780 Would be good.

hope that helps|||The 8500GT is only available as a PCI-e 16x card, so you can fit any other recent card in your slot. The only real question is your power supply's output ratings. Specifically, what can it do on the 12v rail, and what brand is it? If you have at least 18 or so 12v amps, I suggest you buy a 4650 and call it a day. It's a solid mainstream card, and should be about five or six times faster than the woefully slow 8500GT. The competing Nvidia card is a 9500GT, and it's a tad slower, but if you can get a much better deal on it, buy that instead. Ignore the 9400GT and lower-rung Radeon numbers, as they're pretty slow.

|||yes you can upgrade to a good pci-express video card. Depending on your budget I would recommend either the XFX 8800 GT or the eVGA 8800 GT. Both can run most games on max settings and both sell for about 120-150.

Great card, check here for good prices.
