Want to upgrade video card?

I’d like to upgrade my PC video card. I’ve already done other upgrades

Computer: Presario SR1817CL Desk top mid size case

3.5gb memory, can upgrade to 4gb

Original hard drive but will upgrade or add.

New 630 Watt ATX Power Supply installed

New Athlon64 X2 4800 Processor installed

Large DVI monitor, Res? But great running HD

Current Pcie card GeForce 8600 GT over clocked 250mb to be replaced

Video card wanted: 1gb card but not overly pricey.

Want to play crysis 2 and some other newer games.

What card can you suggest?

Thanks|||I hesitate to recommend a high end video card for that system because the Athlon64 x2 processor (the fastest that motherboard wills support) will bottleneck a high-end video card.



A reasonable choice would be the Radeon HD 5770 or GeForce GTS 450 for around $130. I normally recommend HD 6850 or GTX 460 at the $190 point for affordable 1080p gaming, but I'm afraid you won't actually see much improvement with the processor holding you back.
